Waste to value

We're selecting commercial partners to deploy two distinct systems. Locale replaces porta-potties at events and public sites — self-contained, mobile, zero pump-outs. Vault is permanent below-grade infrastructure, a gravity-feed hopper that replaces Clivus Multrum and legacy vault systems at trailheads, cabins, and remote facilities. Both eliminate pump-and-haul costs and generate recoverable resources with a much improved restroom experience.

Regulatory relief

Composting is classified differently than septic in most jurisdictions. We help you document compliance and navigate local requirements.

Methodology
Publishable ESG metrics

Gallons diverted, CO₂ avoided, pump trips eliminated — per site, per month.

Revenue from recovery

Disposal costs converted into three potential value streams.

Stream 01 Humanure compost

Class A finished compost sold by the cubic yard to landscapers, regenerative farms, and land-reclamation projects.

$10-$20 per yd³ · market range, regional
Stream 02 Urine fertilizer

RO-concentrated NPK liquid. Shelf-stable. Pathogen-free. Odor-free.

$0.20 per liter of unconcentrated urine
Savings Pumping & disposal avoided

Vacuum truck, labor, dumping fees, regulatory overhead — eliminated. Per unit, per year.

$3,200+ per unit / yr · operator avg, 3-event/yr site

Pump savings: Fleet × trips/week × cost/trip × 52 weeks. Based on PSAI industry averages ($75–$110/trip).

Compost value: 0.5 yd³/unit/yr × fleet × $10/yd³ (conservative floor; composted biosolids sell for $10–$20/yd³ regionally).

Urine fertilizer: 300 L/unit/yr × fleet × $0.20/L. Derived from 9 g N/L human urine × $1/lb N retail ÷ 453 g/lb ≈ $0.20/L nitrogen value.

Who we're looking for

Operators who want to stop paying to dispose of valuable resources.

For Locale: porta-potty operators, event producers, festivals, municipalities, and parks departments looking to replace or supplement existing portable sanitation fleets. For Vault: parks departments, trail authorities, off-grid facility managers, and anyone replacing aging Clivus Multrum or legacy vault infrastructure.

Two completely different systems. One shared mission.

Locale and Vault are built for fundamentally different environments. Locale is a mobile unit that goes where porta-potties go. Vault is fixed infrastructure that goes in the ground. Both eliminate pump-and-haul and recover resources — but the choice depends entirely on whether your deployment moves or stays.

Locale

The porta-potty that never needs pumping.

Locale is a fully self-contained, mobile composting restroom unit. Think of it as a porta-potty — same footprint, same drop-in deployment — but instead of holding waste in a chemical tank, Locale composts it on-site using natural biological processes. No odor. No pump-outs.

Self-contained — no water hookup, no sewer, no power required
Zero pump-outs — composting processes waste on-site autonomously
Zero odor — source separation eliminates the smell at its origin
Deploys in under 30 minutes — retrieves the same way
Retrofits into PolyJohn, Satellite Tufway, and Five Peaks chassis
Reduce your operating costs and elevate your client experience

Vault

A gravity-feed composting vault. Permanent infrastructure, not a portable unit.

Vault is fundamentally different from Locale. It is not a portable unit — it is installed infrastructure. A large-capacity composting hopper is installed permanently below grade inside an outhouse structure, a purpose-built vault enclosure, or an existing restroom vault. Waste falls by gravity from the toilet seat above directly into the composting chamber below. There are no pumps, no moving parts, and no pump-out services required.

Permanent below-grade installation — gravity-feed, fully contained
Direct drop-in replacement for Clivus Multrum and legacy vault systems
5,000+ uses per year capacity — high-traffic public sites
Operates year-round in any climate
Zero pump-outs — quarterly compost removal, stabilized odorless urine can be used on site or brought to nearby farms
Urine stabilized, odor-free, easy contained removal.

Demonstration Program Application

We review every application and respond within two weeks. Limited partner slots available for Locale and Vault deployments.

Pilot partners pay a discounted price for the Locale or Vault units and installation. Virro provides onboarding, operator training, and ongoing monitoring at no extra cost during the pilot year. Contact us for a quote based on your fleet size.

In most US jurisdictions, composting toilets require no permitting for temporary or mobile Locale deployments. Permanent Vault installations may require a state health department review. Virro helps all pilot partners navigate local compliance as part of onboarding.

Locale and Vault are two completely different systems. Locale is a portable, self-contained mobile unit — the same footprint as a porta-potty — that deploys at events and public sites with zero pump-outs. Vault is permanent below-grade infrastructure: a gravity-feed hopper installed inside an outhouse or vault structure. Locale moves. Vault does not.

Virro connects clients & demo partners to local buyers for Class A humanure compost ($10–$20/yd³ depending on region) and stabilized odor-free urine fertilizer (~$0.20/Liter NPK value). Demo partners share anonymized revenue data; Virro handles buyer connections and logistics.

The Virro commercial team will review your application and respond within two weeks. If your operation is a fit, we schedule a 30-minute site-assessment call, prepare a custom deployment plan and cost comparison, then coordinate installation, training, and monitoring setup.
